"What I love about this industry is that I feel free, well. . . my mind feels free.

I get to learn new things in the process, not only in design and art; but about people, history, nature and life as well.

I love the thought of having unlimited resources of inspirations, knowing that there will always be opportunity for new ideas and new designs. That’s why I’m certain that I’ll never get tired loving this profession.

As hard and stressful as it may be sometimes, it always excites me."

- IMA C.

IDR. IMA CARRILLO, PIID

Ima was born on January 22, 1992. Coming from a family of artists (painters and illustrators) from Kalibo, Aklan like her grandfather, Fred Carrillo (Comics Illustrator), Jessa has demonstrated promise as an artist even at a very young age. She has won numerous art contests during her primary and secondary school years. Though she already knew from the start that she wasn’t a comics illustrator, or a painter; she was still certain that she wanted a career in line with her passion which is art. Being future-minded and ambitious are her greatest traits, so much so that even in her early years of high school she already prepared herself for college and eventually found her niche in design.

A licensed Interior Designer, Ima received her Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design at the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines. She worked as a Junior Interior Designer at the Design Hirayama + Quesada for over a year and as Design Officer at the Shopping Center Management Corp. (SM Prime) assigned at the SM Mall of Asia for over 2 years. She also had the privilege of being in the pioneer Projects Team (Design & Construction) of Tim Hortons Philippines, helping opening more than 15 branches across Metro Manila in its 2nd year of franchise in the country.

As a student, she has shown exemplary leadership having served as President of the Interior Design Innovators (IDi) the Official Interior Design Organization in UST and as National Secretary General of PIID-SAB (Philippine Institute of Interior Designers - Student Auxiliary Body) the official national organization for interior design students. She was considered as one of the promising students of her batch.

She is a Post-modernist thinker; a designer who always itches for details and aims to bring back the aesthetics and ideals of old world/classical workmanship in design. However, despite her yearning for intricacy; she respects and highly appreciates the modernist’s practicality and philosophies.

She is also described as a designer with impeccable and mature design taste despite her young age. She is an advocate of sustainable and handcrafted art. Defines her style as PERSONAL, UNUSUAL and UNEXPECTED. Believes in the need to think beyond our usual 'Bubble'.

She loves listening to indie music; loves to go thrift shopping; sucker for chocolate chip cookies and pistachio flavored gelato; a coffeeholic; and has a soft spot for beagles and fluffy cats!

Her influences include International Designers such as Kelly Wearstler, Thom Filicia, Nate Berkus; and Filipino Designers such as Ivy Almario, Rossy Yabut, Wilmer Lopez, Frenjick Quesada, and Vito Selma.
